New Developments on In-House Safety Testing

The original Stretchtest machine was developed in the late 90's at the request of sectors of the garment industry. Our brief, then, as now, was to design a machine for in house random testing to ensure safety and performance of children's garments. In addition, it had to be highly accurate and easy to use.

It has evolved into its present form as a result of considerable consultation in the industry. Stretchtest gave a whole new meaning to the words DUE DILIGENCE - from design concept to purchase.

Stretchtest is a highly accurate, calibrated tensile test machine.

It is a truly portable unit and packs away into its own carrying case on wheels. The new slimmed down latest version is perfect now for carrying abroad to check offshore product before it is transported to customers warehouses in the UK. In addition to earlier facilities, of being used by unskilled labour, it has a new improved attachment head for testing press-studs. The pressure on the fabric and the press-stud is uniform and the fabric is not distorted. All that is needed to run the machine is either an electric supply, or it can be made to work off a battery, depending on location.

Poor security on attachments, particularly on children's clothing, can leave both the manufacturer and retailer facing very costly recalls problems and potential litigation. For instance, poor button or press-stud attachment and weak seams, which often manifest themselves after customer purchase are at best a great embarrassment and at worst, a business disaster.
